Liver - sinusoids (100x objective lens)


This image shows hepatocytes (He) and sinusoids (Si) at high magnification. Note the thin dark lines that mark the cell boundaries (CB) between adjacent hepatocytes. Note also the relationship between the sinusoidal lining cells (SLC) and the space of Disse (SD). Fluid components of the blood, but not blood cells, can freely enter this space through the discontinuous sinusoidal lining and bath the apical surfaces of the hepatocytes.
