Liver - sinusoid (10x objective lens)

This mosaic image of the human liver shows part of a lobule, including the central vein (CV) and two portal areas (PA). The portal areas contain branches of the hepatic artery and vein from which blood flows into irregular sinusoids (Si) before reaching the central vein. The sinusoids are located between irregular anastomosing plates or trabeculae of hepatocytes.
