Adrenal gland - zona glomerulosa (40x objective lens)

This image shows the oval-shaped clusters of cells that comprise the zona glomerulosa, which is located just beneath the blue-stained connective tissue capsule. The cell clusters are separated by capillaries whose darkly stained, flattened nuclei can be seen exterior to the groups of secretory cells. The cells of the zona glomerulosa produce mineral corticoids.
Stain = AZAN.
