Nasal passage - nasal mucosa (40x objective lens)

This high magnification view of the nasal mucosa shows a pseudostratified columnar epithelium composed of ciliated cells and mucous-secreting goblet cells. Note the cilia at the apical surface and the unstained mucous within the apices of the flask-shaped goblet cells. The epithelium rests on a lamina propria of loose connective tissue, containing mucous glands.
